Give some words

It's been well, days since I last interviewed and was conditionally offered a position with Wal-mart. I have not heard anything from them and it would be awesome to know what the deal is. I'm to the point of just hoping they don't call or do call and tell me that training doesn't start until Nov 1. That way I can meet the rest of the familia in Pahrump, NV. It would be especially fun to shoot my father-in-law with an airsoft gun again. I'll go as far as saying it would be great to shoot Zach and Caleb too. And before all that it would be the greatest thing to see my beautiful wife. I haven't seen here in a month and twelve days. In my book a month and twelve days way too long.

Anyway, not much else has been happening around here other than hanging with Zach and Brenda and Emily and occasionally hanging with the rest of the homies Steve, Trish, Jeremy and Kristi and the rest of those folks.

Ok so I've been just a little lazy in my updating.

Don't know what to update about though. I've applied for a few jobs and now I'm waiting to hear from Walmart DC. Still praying and I know all you folks out there are too, so thanks.

I've been playing music with Zach on Sunday's and that has been going surprisingly well. I was a little nervous playing in front of a bunch of people, but it's not nearly as bad as it could be. In fact there's been a few times when we just don't want to stop playing because we get so into it.

More to come later.

Almost there.

Here's the story. My last day of work is tomorrow. We get our house packed up the same day we move into our new apartment. The next day our house stuff will be picked up and moved to the great state of California. We have a lot of stuff to do within the next 36 hours.
I bought my one way plane ticket last night and will be flying to CA on Sunday September 2nd.

Please pray that we can sell my car before I leave. Also pray that we pack wisely and don't forget stuff that we need now or within the next couple of months as most of our stuff will be tightly and securely stored who knows where. And finally pray for peace and grace for this whole situation. Long days/stress/tenants that need a mortgage/huge amounts of time away from my awesome wife will all add up to make life crazy nuts not so fun but dealing with it anyway kind of stuff.

Anyway, not sure what that last sentence means or translates to, but thanks for the prayers.

See you Californians soon enough.

That much closer to being an old man.

Yesterday was my quarter century old day. You could also call it my 25th birthday, but not nearly as fun. As I'm sure you've read Bean's blog we had a classy meal at Panda China and then went to a even higher class movie. All in all it was a great birthday. It's funny too because I was telling Katie that birthday's just don't hold the same excitement as they used to, but then when Sunday came, I was quite surprised at all the fun I had. Good times.

Can you say uhhh?

As I'm sure you've heard, we went to Mexico. It was fun, Katie already posted about it, I won't rehash everything.

Right now I looking for cars, apartments and jobs in Redding. I'm hopeful that this time we will actually close the deal with this mortgage broker guy, but we'll see. If you haven't heard all the details, just pray for this to go through. We really want this to work, but we also know God's will is paramount even if it's hard to deal with sometimes.

Anyway, life is about the same other than all the possible moving stuff. I've got wednesdays and thursdays off now. You could say I'm stoked.

I'm eating soup. It's good soup. No, I'm not sick, just too lazy to make anything else. In case you were wondering, I am still here. It has stopped raining for two days and the sunsets the past two nights have been excellent.
It's only thirteen days until we go to Mexico. It will be fun and I can't wait to go sea kayaking...and snorkeling. The best part will probably be sitting around the pool doing absolutely nothing. Enjoying the sun and a good book, that will be the highlight of vacation.
I've been only averaging about 47 hours a week, down from 49 ever since I've been back from doing my military stuff a few weeks ago.
In other news, we still live in Texas, but at least now that our contract with our realtor is up, we seem to be pretty popular with many other Realtors. One realtor went as far as guaranteeing he would sell our house in thirty days or he would take $500 off his fees and also take us to dinner at some super expensive steak place. Give me the prime rib, medium well please. Probably be better than this soup.

Uh, are you serious? I just told you....

Deja vu! Dude, I totally started to type this post and had the weirdest sense of already typing about what I was about to write about.

Anyway.

I just got home from work. It is now 1:03 in the am. What the dealy? It's so late and I have to be up and ready to leave to go back to work in 8 and a half hours. That's the coolest. But not really. I'm glad my boss likes me, but in another way, I'd sure like to have some time off.

Before I forget, I'd like to take a second to say what a stud my wife is. She made one of my favorites today. Bertha Burgers. They were so good and I can't wait for breakfast. Yes I will eat Bertha Burgers for breakfast. Why not when my life clock is all whack anyway. Then again, I'd probably eat them for breakfast even if I had a regular 9 to 5. Whatever, I'm stoked to eat them again. Oh and not like a cow...

Well I'm off to bed so I can get up and make some more pizza. Oh the life of a pizzamonger.

It's officially official.

I've pretty much come to the conclusion that most of what I post on here, the majority of you readers already know by talking to bean. So really I could just discontinue this blog as my posts are what you already know, in my own words rather bean's. Oh well.

For those of you who only talk to katie every once a week or so, I'll fill you in on the latest. We still live in Texas where we own a house that we no longer want, and we are not moving as of this post anytime soon. I just got off of work and it is very late. Actually Katie will probably be up in three hours to go work out. Sad on many different levels. I helped close tonight as an official manager of Pizza Hut #47. It did not go as well as I hoped, as I am unskilled with printing calculators. A story I'm sure you'll hear from bean because she talks to y'all much more than I blog.

In other news, I am a bit more than slightly depressed that the Mavericks lost to the Golden State Warriors in the first round of the NBA playoffs. And now I'm bummed that the Phoenix Suns lost their first game to the Spurs. And for the record I would like to say how much I loathe the Spurs, the team and even more so their trashy loud mouthed fans.

And on the note of sports, what's the deal with Oscar de la Hoya losing to ghetto Mayweather? Someone please answer me that.

How many times do I have to say it.

I love Pizza Hut. It's been a month now and I still love Pizza Hut. At least once every shift I eat pizza and on many occasions I bring some home. What's not to love about free delicious pizza?

On another note, I got a call from Starbucks today. The guy on the other end was calling to see if I was still looking for a job and that they'd like to speak to me about hiring me. How funny is that? I mean if they would have called a month ago and the choice was between Starbucks and Pizza Hut, I'd probably have gone for Starbucks. Then again, with either one you end up smelling bad. Take your pick, stale pizza or stale coffee and old milk. I'll take stale pizza any day over old milk. Anyway, I just thought that was a pretty funny deal.

I also found out that signing up to use my military GI bill is not going to be as hard as I had thought. I emailed back and forth with a rep from the University of Phoenix and he put me in contact with a VA rep there. So now I'm just waiting on getting back to CA, so I don't have to stress about school while hopefully moving.

Moving soon you may ask? Not so much. Though we did have someone come look at our casa today. We haven't heard back anything yet, but now as with any time, God's got this under control. It's funny how the longer this takes the more we're trusting God to take care of things.

So basically...

... God truly works in mysterious ways. After going from job to job to job here, I have settled at Pizza Hut. That, however y'all already know. As well you know from Bean's blog that I have been given a promotion. What you may not know is that I have no earthly clue when it will take place. My boss told me there is some paperwork and some evaluations to be done, but he has yet to give me an effective date. Either way I'm thankful and glad that he thinks so highly of me after only knowing me for a few weeks. Then again if y'all could only see my competition. I joke, I joke, I kid, I kid.

Seriously though, thanks to all of you for so faithfully praying for us. Like Zachary just posted about, we have so much to be thankful for. I don't know that I can say much more without just making a massive list of all I have to be thankful for, so I will just say Thank You God.

Not much going on.

I figured I would post even though I don't really have much to say. The Atlanta Braves won their season opener, and my fantasy baseball team is winning. Being that we've only started keeping score, I'm sure it won't be like that for long.
I met with my life group leader yesterday. We mostly just played guitars and tried to learn some new songs. The songs are pretty easy to play, but I can't remember the melody very well a day after, so I need to see if I can download them. Hopefully they are around. If not I'll have to see if he has them and then I can just burn them.

Anyway, that's about all I've got to say.

Aging....

So what's the deal with balding? I mean, who wants to have a chrome dome? Well not me. Sure Zachary and Kevin may like the look, but I for one am against it when it comes to my head. Anyway, after much thought, I have come to the conclusion that having longer hair just is not for me. So here is a before and after so you can see the sweet new do.

I also had my first day at Pizza Hut today. I'm a little bummed because I'd like to be working forty hours a week, but it seems like initially until I prove myself, I'm stuck with 20 to 30 hours a week. Even the manager was saying that it's great that I'm available to work so many hours, so hopefully that means he will give me more hours soon. Other than that awesomeness, Pizza Hut is a fun place to work. Right now I'm learning how to make the pizzas and do odd jobs around the place, but hopefully after that I'll be able to start doing deliveries, or maybe waiting tables. Either way really would be nice getting a little extra cash. So if you could pray that I'll catch on and show this manager guy that I'm worth keeping around. And if your praying anyway, we'd appreciate a little word to God about our house selling. You know, priorities. Pizza, house, God. Or should it be God, house then pizza. Okay, I'm sure it's God first then you can decided between the other two.

Hope you like the sweet photos. And the Pizza Hut talk. Oh yeah, the best part of the job is that I get free Dr Pepper, free pizza while I'm working and 50% off for Katie and I and whoever comes with me when I'm not working. Good times. I mean who needs one of those fancy jobs where you get stock options and bonuses. Oh wait.

Thursday, March 22, 2007

Welcome to Pizza Hut, can I take your order?

Yes! I work for Pizza Hut. And who said I don't have ambition. Making pizzas is the place to be. Career progression is easy. Before you know it, I'll go from cooking the pizzas to actually be wiping down tables and maybe even taking orders. Sweet! Now, I know y'all are probably pretty jealous, so I've got the hook up if you need a job. I'll put in a good word for any of you, well any except maybe Zach. He's too cool for Pizza Hut.

In other news, it's rainy here.

Please pray with us again!

Tomorrow from 10-11 am a family is scheduled to take a look at our house. This process is weird because we don't have to do anything except pray, and yet it is so draining. However, praying is also the only thing we can do that will actually do any good, so pray we shall. We thank y'all so much for praying with us.

More posts to follow, someday.

¡Que bonita!

As many others in this family have already done, I will post a picture of my first niece. She is the cutest little thing on this planet. It has been great holding little Emily and I am glad to be her uncle. Here is a picture that I'm sure has been seen a million times, but I just have to put it up here.

People these days...

I was just reading an article on CNN, here you go, and I just can't believe some people.

News flash, Pizza Hut and teachers are causing the child obesity rate to sky rocket in the United States. We should all thank the left-wing saviors for bringing this to our attention. After twenty long years, we can all sleep at night because light has been shone upon the evils of these pizzamongers. Shame on those teachers for trying to motivate their students to read. Bribing those innocent young minds into extending their vocabulary and teaching them that reading is fun. Shame to all principals and teachers for partnering up with those pizza tossing crazies.
And by no means is the reason for all the fat kids in America to be blamed on the parents of said children. By being a parent in no way means being responsible for the health and welfare of your child. In fact, a bill was just passed that gives children the right to divorce themselves from their parents whenever they feel like it. For instance, when parents discipline a child, divorce 'em. Mom tells you not to write on walls with finger paint, can 'em. Dad tells you you're grounded because you broke then neighbor's car window, take him to court.

Am I taking this a bit far? Maybe. Do I think incentive programs are unhealthy to kids? Maybe, if the kid has slow metabolism and only reads or plays video games all day. Are left wing liberals taking things too far. Yes.

I just want to know why common sense is so hard to find when dealing with politicians and other "public" servants?

New Post

This past Friday I started feeling sick. I have this horrible cough and my sinuses are all jacked up, and then this morning my voice sounds like a bullfrog. I know. It's weird. Every time I try to talk you start feeling like you're in the swamp. Anyway. To go along with this lingering cold, if that's what you want to call it, I told some of the guys from lifegroup that I'd meet them at Jim's aka an even cheaper form of Denny's. I get up early, get ready and head out. My voice was horrible this morning, but I figured like yesterday, the frog thing would eventually go away. Well not so much. I get done with the guys and go back home to get ready for work, just hoping I'll feel better. Blah, blah, blah more rambling, drive to work, clock in an hour passes, now we are caught up. I just keep coughing all over the place, my voice is jacked up, so I go and talk to the supervisor and let her know that I'm sick. I explained that I knew it was my first week on the floor and that I was horrendously sorry for having to go home sick, but you know, for the good of everyone else I should not stick around and spread my germs. With the look I got and the snide remark from her, I should have stuck around and coughed all day in her direction. Eventually I spoke to the head manager and she let me go. She even switched around me schedule so I can make up my hours on my scheduled day off(Thursday). Long story, not so short, I really hope I am better by tomorrow so I don't get fired from this sweet temp job. I mean really.
OK, so in other news, did y'all catch the Academy Awards last night? You didn't? Nah, me either. But you'd think they were a big deal, considering even the talk news guys were going off about it. I mean really?

I Passed!

It's been a long hard road. Stress, fatigue and worry have racked my mind for a grueling week. I have endured listening to more unprofessional conversations and sad ghetto stories to last at least 1 lifetime, and maybe an eternity. Yet through it all I buckled down and passed the excruciatingly difficult test to become a brand new temporary ILD customer service representative. I have never in my life felt more successful or challenged. What a happy day!
On a side note I'm thinking to myself, How long can I keep up this sarcastic tone?
Well it's over. Now I will just say that I have one full week of work and then we get to come/go see Z&B&E! I haven't been this stoked since.......well....... I don't know. Maybe since moving back to the motherland. Anyway, I'm stoked and that about it.

This is lamp. I love lamp.

To be a working bum

I went to work. It was not fun. It was work. What did I expect? Hilarity, excitement, a good time had by all? Crazy!

So what else do you want to know? The West won the NBA All Star game. Charles Barkley beat the old referee. I still can't stand Dwayne Wade or LeBron James. I wish I actually still golfed. The Dallas Mavericks are still the best team in recent history. I live in Texas. So does the maker of the best roast in all time history. I really love my family. It's not cold outside. Although I wish I was cold, but night skiing at Shasta. My niece is due in mere days, hopefully. Being late though in this case would be okay with me, probably not so much for her mom. I love you anyway Marla. Bean my wife, is still the coolest person I know. And the most studly.

Not sure what other random thoughts may come out of my brain, but maybe I'll make that my new theme of my blog. Oh the randomness that would ensue.

Stinkin Titles

Really. I mean, who really needs a title. At some point I am going to run out of titles to begin my blog. And today is the day.
So I got another temp job. I'm very very excited about this one. It should actually be the best job in the history of the "American Dream". There should be an advertisement for immigrants. Hey you, no the other guy, Hey, Come to America and you can have this sweet job. No more back breaking work. No more callouses, no more early mornings. Yeah, come answer the telephone and we will pay you money. Sound to good to be true? It isn't, yes folks this is the American Dream.

Okay, okay, I'm being just a bit sarcastic, but what can you do. I have to leave soon, so maybe I'll post some more about my day after I have my day.

Oh yeah, we're back from Dallas. It was fun. I ate tons of roast. Nanny is the bombdiggity. Yup you heard it here first. BOMBDIGGITY.

Kayla and her dang sandwiches

Or should I just say, I'm hungry. This past Sunday we went to Firehouse Subs with some homies from church. I had this corned beef and pastrami sandwich, something to do with New York. I can't remember exactly the name but New York and (insert Homer Simpson hmmm gooooood line here). Anyway, instead of enjoying a tasty sandwich, I shall cook up one of creations finest pizzas. Delivery you ask? Nope, and it's not Digiorno either. Freschetta, Red Baron, Tombstone? Nope, none of the above. Oh Totinos you ask? Nope. Have you got it now? Yes, I have stepped down the ladder to everyone's favorite, Jeno's. Oh man, my stomach is turning..... uh growling for the scrumpiousness of the best 79 cent pizza on the planet. Only five minutes until it's ready.

Oh and could you tell, I'm bored and jobless again. I just realized that my posts are most insightful and wise when I'm unemployed. Ok that joke would only be funny if my blog actually was insightful and wise at other times. Riiigghhtt. So anyway, I'm going to go eat my pizza, hopefully talk to some folks about getting a job and then probably do absolutely nothing.

You talkin' to me?

Anybody watch the Pro Bowl? Yeah, me either. It seems that back in the day All Star games were cool, and now, not so much. For me, it used to be that all us friends from the neighborhood would throw and Super Bowl party with tons of bulk candy from Giant and then a Pro Bowl party the next weekend. And I'd always root for the NFC because that's who the 49ers belong to. And now, my niners stink so there's no shot at the Super Bowl and seeing as I'm only a fair weather fan, I haven't followed the niners since Steve Young retired, there's no point in watching the Pro Bowl. Man that was a ridiculously long sentence.
Anyway. Am I the only one that thinks the Pro Bowl is useless? Ok, now tell me who watches the NBA All Star game? Seeing how I find that the NBA has gone down hill ever since Larry Bird and Jordan retired I don't really care about watching the All Star game. That and all the new players seems to have egos entirely too large for how good they are, or not good. I mean, they are obviously talented as they are in the NBA, but until they play for ten or more seasons with good averages consistently, they need to settle down. LeBron, Carmello, Dwayne "Flash" Wade, ring any bells. That's enough ranting for now, considering the majority of folks that read this blog don't watch sports.... You can just tell me how incredibly studly I am and how you wish you could grow a sweet mullet like me, what!?

I'm out of work... again

So today, my boss Ande told us the great news that Aetna would be cancelling the rest of our contract, so we would be let go today instead of Friday. WHOOPEE..... or not so much. I called the temp agency yesterday to start hooking me up, but they said they don't have anything presently. What a surprise. Luis, one of the guys I worked with at Aetna, said his agency has some openings with AT&T, so I'm gonna try to hook that up tomorrow.
In other news if you didn't see American Idol tonight you missed the most hilarious moment all season. If I can find a clip I'll have to post it on here.
And for the record I would like to say that the Dallas Mavericks are the best team in the NBA still and the Phoenix Suns are slipping. And to think Josh Howard didn't make it to the All-Star game. Appalling.

What's it been, two, three days?

Although I have not posted in some time, it seems I have no real excuse as to why. Then again, eh, what can you do? So life has been living, and time keeps on ticking, so basically all must be well. I really don't know why I'm posting as I have nothing to say, but since I tend to ramble anyway, I guess I'll continue. My job ends Friday the 9th, if the rumors are true. One of those he told her and she told me, but he told her not to tell but I'm opening my big mouth anyway because I like to feel like I'm back in high school, rumors. Anyway, I guess I'll ask the boss, then again he's the one that supposedly started the whole rumor, so maybe he'll whisper to me the answer and I can included in the whole cloak and dagger ordeal.
As you can see I'm about tired of this job. It's been fun and I've learned a lot, but when you look at it, I'm ready to move and I wish we could just go. Seriously why is God always making us wait on Him? But seriously, I'm ready to move.

Alright, okay, so I am trying to wait on God and stay faithful to the praying for His will, but it's hard and I'm weak, but He makes me strong, so in the long run I'll be better off no matter how long selling this house takes if I've got the right attitude.

On a totally or mostly separate note, I was thinking at work today, yeah yeah, about holding my new niece and how awesome it's going to be to see her. I'm so stoked!

Guns, hunting and guitars

So this past weekend I had the opportunity to go to Scott's dad's ranch. As you read in Bean's blog, Scott is our lifegroup leader. Anyway.......
We headed to the ranch friday night which is about thirty miles south and east of San Antonio. It was very exciting as I haven't shot a gun except for an M16 in the past six years. And I only shot the M16 once for qualifying, so it's not like I got to go out and mess around with it. So Carl brought his 12 gauge and two handguns, one baby desert eagle .45 and a stubby glock .40. Scott had his hand guns down there as well. He had a Colt .45 1911, and a Taurus .40 and tons of rifles and shotguns. With all the fire power how could it not be fun. Long story short the shooting was great. Oh, and to go along with the shooting, the ranch is also chockablock with feeders, so the deer are plentiful and fairly large. There were also hogs, havalinas, turkey, rabbits, and many other birds and wildlife. To get to the point I shot a five pointer. He should have been a six, but somehow one of his center points were broken off. The best part of this whole deal is that there is a full time ranch hand named Tito, so after shoot the buck all we had to do is hang it up, and Tito did the gutting and whatnot.
We didn't really do much playing as Scott forgot his guitar. What a surprise. So everyone intermittently played mine, but that's about it.
Alright, so there you go. It wasn't Disneyland or anything, but I still had a good time.

An apology.

For some stinking reason a pop-up was launching after you would bring up my website. That is quite annoying. I took out the sweet picture at the bottom of the suzuki gsx-r and I took out the music from filelodge, and that seemed to have worked. Not sure what the dealyo, but now we're all good. A big apology to Zachary as he was the only big mouth to post a comment about it. I will go as far as say you will be shot my friend. Just so NSA doesn't bring me in for questioning, I will be shooting you with an airsoft gun with plasitc bb bullets. out!

I scoff, kahhhhh

I don't know what I'm scoffing about, but hey.

As you all have either talked to us or seen on Katie's blog, we are moving back to Redding. Tomorrow I have a briefing to figure out all the details about when to get packed up and some other information that wee need to know. I'm excited to get the ball rolling, but I also am not sure when to even make a pack out date as we haven't sold our house yet. We've given this whole decision and process to God, so I will trust Him to work it out.
I am also missing some work to go to the briefing, so I will have to make it up at the end of the day. I'm not very excited about that because the traffic was already bad today. I'm hoping it was just the fact that San Antonio drivers are bad at driving in the rain, but we shall see.

On another note, my fingers still hurt from where my father-in-law shot me. I've got three circle shaped wounds on my hands, a good mark on my left arm and a few other minor bb wounds. And thanks to my brother-in-law Caleb, I have to wear my headset at an awkward angle so as not to hurt my ear from where he shot me. All said and done though we had a great weekend. Hopefully we can get together in February and have another go at it.
